Applicants will need to successfully complete a physical workshop audition and should also have, or expect to have:
A-levels: CDD, or the equivalent in UCAS tariff points, to include 2 full A Levels

BTEC: MMP

We also consider T-levels. Entry requirements for these qualifications are not available here at the moment, please contact admit@essex.ac.uk for advice.

IB: 25 points or three Higher Level certificates with 433.
We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher and Standard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard level, and the course applied for. Please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office for more information.

Audition Fee:

£15- First Round Fee

If you are invited to attend a Round 2 audition, you will be required to pay a further fee of £30 when you book your Round 2 audition (unless you have been awarded an Audition Fee Waiver).

Audition Fee Waiver Y/N and Criteria:

Yes.

To apply for a free audition, you must meet all of the following essential criteria:  

  • You are applying for undergraduate study.

  • You are considered a home student for fee status purposes.

  • You attended a state school.

In addition to the above essential criteria, one of the following criteria must be met:

  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance

  • Income Support

  • Housing Benefit

  • Council Tax support (not just the single person reduction)

  • Income-based Employment Support Allowance

  • Personal Independence Payments (PIPs)

  • Pension credit (guaranteed element only) with an award notice showing annual gross household income of less than £25,000

  • Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit or Universal credit with an award notice showing annual gross household income of less than £25,000

  • Full-time carers allowance or proof that you are a young carer

  • You will be a care leaver when you begin your training.

Audition Process:

All applicants applying for courses that require an audition will need to record a video and provide a URL link for this in their application.

Applicants who pass the first round of auditions will then be recalled for a second audition that will take place on campus, at a UK regional or international venue, or online.

Further instructions will be sent directly to applicants who have been successful in the first round. Your audition can be recorded using a smartphone camera (i.e. iPhone, Android etc.), you do not need a professional grade camera for this.

Application Deadline: 

We do not have a deadline, however, we do suggest that you apply and submit your video audition as soon as you can.

If you are an undergraduate applicant, we suggest you submit your East 15 Application form before the end of February so that we have time to review your video audition and, if applicable, invite you to attend a Round 2 audition before the end of April.

We usually don’t close our courses until at least the end of May but may close them earlier if we feel that we have made enough offers.
